Jesus Drives A Lambo!

...at least, today he does!
I took on what in theory was the elementary task of changing the Lambda (O2 / Oxygen) Sensors in my Diablo.
The reality is that it is really not uncommon for the bu99ers to seize / rust / weld themselves into place over time!
You have to take the rear wheels off and go in around the supension but there is just about enough access to turn a spanner (22mm) about 1/8 turn.
Luckily, today, they both came undone without much effort
Took about 2 hours in total.
Started it up and let it run for a good 15 minutes and it's running smoother than a stripper's do dah!
One of the old ones looked pretty battered!

It doesn't look oily or overly 'biscuit-ey' at all... I guess it means all is well in V12 land!
It may named after the Devil but today the Gods were smiling upon me!
...or did I just sell my soul in exchange for an easy time

I got them from Mike Pullen at Carrera Sports. They were NTK sensors and a mere ~£46+ vat & delivery...
You can more than double that if you get them from a well known European parts supplier!
I also want to publicly thank Roberto at Grimaldi Engineering who gave me clear advice on how to do the job (thus doing himself out of a job!)

Hey did you ever see if these were the same lamda sensor part no. as the Esprit V8? I got one replaced a few months back but forgot to write down its no. and yes mine cemented on and needed a steel pipe over a crescent to release it!!!They are different! The Esprit uses a four wire Delco sensor
The ones I removed read:
LSH6
BOSCH 12V
0 258 003 032
76211 Made in Germany (020)
The ones I put in were NTK. The connectors fit perfectly and they required absolutely no faffing about or modifying.
Info from the bosch site: http://www.bosch.com.au/content/language1/download...
Original Sensor

Direct Fit Supercession
0 258 003 957
Universal Sensor
0 258 986 502

Arrh just checked when I got back not long ago from out hooning and yes 4 wires. Good to have little finds like this though as 02 sensors are always crapping out.

Wow!
Yep!
Just Wow!
I can't believe the difference that has made!
I took the car out tonight and it's SO much smoother! Pull away on idle is a piece of the proverbial now...
The whole car just feels more 'immediate'
I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone with an older car... Buy new Lambda Sensors (I got mine from Mike Pullen)
...and if you're feeling it - treat your car to a new dizzy and rotor too.
Total cost £200... and about 3 4 hours tops!
None of them were particularly 'knackered'. Everything ran happily yet it's an awesome difference.
