Taken from the telegraph newspaper.
'Today's figures showed that there were 39,390 deaths and serious injuries on British roads in 2002'
Any thoughts in relation to it or views on police working towards road safety or speeding motorists?
not enough information
need to know what the causes of the deaths were (real causes - not "speeding"
) only then can a conclusion be drawn as to the best actions.

We need not only the reasons but also the total numbers of miles travelled.
The local scamera parternship trumpet the fact that KSI accidents have fallen overthe last year in my local area on camera targetted roads only. What this actually means is that there were more fatalities and more seriously injured but just not on the targeted roads.
And somehow this means the project is successful.

And 'seriously injured' is defined as having to spend a night in hospital.
Given that I've spent a night in hospital for concussion after falling from a horse, and 9 nights in hospital with an allergic reaction to dissolvable stitches, neither of which was life-threatening (if unpleasant), I view these statistics with a degree of scepticism.
