Load cover won't rise!
Discussion
Hi, does anyone have any ideas as to why the load cover on my E Class estate stopped rising when the boot is opened? I presume that there is a motor in both sides? My though was that, if so, then the chances of two motors failing together would be small and it must be a connector issue or similar?
I did think about pulling all of the lining off the rear but how does that stay up? I did not want to go breaking of catches as I know I would!
Thanks

Mines done it once, I had the stealer look at it when it was in for some warrenty work. They couldn't find anything wrong with it.....after they had performed a "seqaunce reset" - their educated guess was that the computer had got confused and the reset sorted it out! (Car is 18 Months old, on it's second set of motors for the load cover, and is still horribly noisey).

I have looked very carefully at mine. When you close the tailgate it presses against two catches which move the cover up about half a centimetre; then when you open the tailgate the catches release the cover and it moves up of it's own accord due to the pressure exerted on it by the rewinding mechanism. To test this press each catch with your fingers and see what happens.
BTW what year is your car?
