I can see them no problem.

Looks very nice! What have you used in the trim - did you do that yourself?

Interior is not atandard as far as i know! Its got blue alcantara in the middle of the seats and the door handles
I replaced the light blue carpet that was knackered with a darker blue with higher pile

Nice marts. Well done

I guess its an S1 with 2.9? (hence the "S1.5" ref in your profile).

Does anyone know what the earlier 2.8s were like in comparison to the 2.9s?
Please dont hide the truths from me.
(I guess I may have to start another thread on this).

I dont really have a clue what they are like in comparison
Mine has a 2.9, inner wheel arches and something else i have forgotten about
I dont suppose there is much difference performance or handling wise as they seem to be very similar

I have an S1.5 (2.9) - cant say what the performance/handling differences are; but the main diffs other than obvious interior, mirrors, alloys, driving lights, bumper trims, lies in the chasis and engine. The later S's had a revised rear suspension (trailing arms IIR)which supposedly helps handling and prevented the squating under heavy acceleration.

BTW - think the dual tone leather is spot on on your car. Not sure it would work for other colour cars tho.

Got them now - looks good! was the alcantra trimming on there when you got it or did you do that yourself?

the ride height looks fine to me BTW - assuming the pics were after you had new shocks fitted!

I think the two-tone interior looks fantastic!

On a related topic, how difficult was it to make the gearlever gaitor? I was wondering about getting some dark blue leather (to match the carpets) and making a replacement for my existing tatty and torn one. Unfortunately I have one stumbling block in that I don't have a clue how to go about making a new one, so if you could provide any guidance I'd be grateful.

P.S. Hope you got your headlights sorted.

Thanks richard
The alcantara trim was already there when i got it, the gear gaiter does not look too hard to make! If you are local you are more than welcome to pop round and use mine as a template
BTW the lights were all sorted Got the stalk from a breakers on sunday for £10....if you cant get a sierra stalk a fiesta mk2 one fits as well

Something about us Martyn's and the S1's. Pity you couldn't make the VW meet, we could have teamed up as I was a bit out numbered by the 2's, 3's and V8's

In the picture a very nice V8 and my early '88 S1.

Thanks for the offer. I'm still at the 'idly wondering' stage of the project ATM, but if I manage to progress to future stages I may take you up on it.
