The future Mrs Asterix and I went and got measured up for our wedding rings - simple and plain white gold bands - and the bloke asked us if we wanted them engraved.

We'd never thought about it before. Is it the done thing and what do you put - names and date? Mrs A's is tiny (size 7) so I can't imagine we'd get anything meaningful on it.

At the moment we're planning to leave them blank.

Wondered what you lot think or have done.

About to get ours but won't be getting them engraved, I am sure I will be able to remember the date! What else would you try and get written on there otherwise?

I had mine engraved it's a nice touch, I just had "29th December 2007" engraved on mine I thought it was nicer than just 29/12/07, the wifes wedding ring was too thin to be engraved though.

If you put your wedding date on, it helps you remember anniversaries !

Had ours done at 'Cara' in the Gold & Diamond Park SZR; great guys there and the only place to go IMHO. Have the date ingraved on the inside (so I don't forget)

I used Supreme at the same place. They were recommended to me when I got the engagement ring made. Took it back to the UK for a valuation and it would have been 85% more expensive had I bought it (retail) there! They did a cracking job.

Cheers for the comments guys - will dicuss with the boss.

It does if you can get the ring off your finger again. Mine only comes off with a certain amount of brute force and some pain as I force it past my knuckle!

Both our rings say the same - our two names and the wedding date.

We got ours engraved. As I said to my wife at the time, it will come in handy if I die some horrific death that makes it difficult to identify my body e.g head missing. I'm dead romantic like that. biggrin

Have the phone number of a good divorce solicitor engraved, that way when she throws her ring at you and demands a divorce you can hire him first.

Good idea!

I'm not that fussed tbh - I'll see if she wants anything and go with the flow. Three and a bit weeks to go. Off to Cyprus on our own for a weeks hols and do the deed then parties in Dubai, UK & India smile

That's nice. We had both of our names and the wedding date in ours. Problem is there not so easy to sell when your divorce comes through.

Hopefully the weather will be nice - not 'beach' nice but we're not worried about that either living in Dubai. Haven't been before so will be nice to mooch around a bit.

Honeymoon is going to be in June. Going to fly into Naples and then spend two weeks driving up to Milan zigzagging across the country with my 40th birthday party in Tuscany in the middle of the trip. Also been given the green light to hire a Fezza for a day or two when we hit the Amalfi Coast.

I suggested "Do Not Resuscitate" be engraved on Mrs renmure's wedding ring.
The bruising is beginning to fade now tho, but I still walk with a slight limp.
