Hi alI,

got my 1980's seamaster auto about a week ago and love it.

What should it cost for servicing it at a reputable place?

It seems to work Ok, only the second hands seems to stop for a split second now and then....seems to keep time ok though.

Let's have some pictures then!

If you are anywhere near town you could get it serviced at Omega on Bond Street. They have an in-house workshop.

I don't know if the standards have improved recently but the consensus always used to be that you should avoid allowing it to go to the Swatch service centre at Eastleigh at all costs.

Isn't the Bond St workshop only for cosmetic (strap replacement / addition or removal of links) type of work ? Maybe batteries in quartz movements etc too.

Servicing and internal cleaning jobs get shipped to Eastleigh for evaluation and then off to Switzerland if req'd IIRC.

My SM Chrono came back from service with its strap on the wrong way round rolleyes and it had to go back to Switzerland as it was they who had done the work - all via the Bond St boutique ! Oh and another 4 weeks away.

They did offer to ship it back to me by courier direct from Bond St following this remedial work, but I declined.

Waited over 10 weeks for my Seamaster to be serviced (quartz). Collected it on 13th Jan from AD and upon close inspection found small marks under the glass that weren't present before. So its been sent back to rectify. Will probably have to wait another 10 weeks! Not happy frown

You know more than me. Stretching the definition of "workshop" a little if you're right though!
