UK TV programme last night called TOP GEAR has a famous racing driver who they keep the identity of secret and only refer to him as THE STIG.....

Last night he was racing a Harrier in a moded jag (with NoS) on an aircraft carrier and over-ran the runway....

Will we ever know the secret identity of The Stig (we know who our Stig is)? Who will they get to thrash their trash round the race track now... I guess we'll never find out if an Ultima is faster than a Radical.

I know people who claim to know The Stig...but they wont let on. To the best of my knowledge he is from north of the border....

There was an article in last weeks Motorsport News about Perry's new book. He was promissed that he would get a proper presenting job after 2 series of ananymity. Last night was just a staged thing where they chucked an old Jag off the flight deck of an aircraft carrier.

Expect to see a "new" presenter making an appearance in the next few weeks.

Sorry to our American friends for this thread. It's a British thing

Did they really throw a car in the ocean for this? Anyway, I would love to get a copy of the video of the GTR on Top Gear and the series "A Car is Reborn". Reborn has a website but neither I or an international operator can ring the number listed. Anyone have any ideas.

thanks

Yes, but it was only a scabby old Jaguar XJS. Value under £500.

Was amusing but the cop out was the shot from in front of the Aircraft Carrier with the Jag mid air. You could see the steam from the steam catapult used to launch the planes.

They didn't even jam the throttle open and let it run of on its own!! Cheats!!!

AHHHH. You see the price of BBC cutbacks. Those at Le Mans may remember John Savage in clasic TVR. He until recently worked for Beeb and did the special effects for programs like Top Gear. They closed the department and now try to use private companies.

Is that the same Jag they put all the nitrous gear in a few weeks/months back?
If so they probably took it all out ,engine and all, and floged it to some 'skate' on board.

IIRC - None of the navy's carriers use catapults. The Harrier in conjunction with the ramp is all that is needed.

They don't need them but they do have them, so I have been informed. Aparently they are great in the Shuffel board Competitions.
