Having downloaded the Fear 2 demo off Steam yesterday. I have to say I was impressed! After being so disappointed with the latest batch of ‘Triple A’ FPS games, I wasn’t expecting it to hold my attention at all. However, hold my attention it did – it is genuinely atmospheric (read- scary), looks great, plenty of very cool weapons, and it seems to run very smooth on a humble laptop!

Looking forward to getting the game proper next month.

Big fan of the original one but didn't bother with the second expansion pack, just the first. Looks really good and also seems to play very well. The HUD was a bit wierd at first but it helps add to the immersion a bit and I jumped a few times, especially when you exit the cinema and Alma grabs you.

Just need to upgrade soon to a new system as mine is struggling now with newer games but it looks very promising so far. thumbup

Got the download on xbox...will play it soon no doubt. The problem is that the graphics look dated on the movies I've seen so far and I keep reading about more "action" in the game (With big armour suits etc etc)

I don't think that gels too well with the horror aspects of the game tbh, especially as in the original and subsequent add-ons it could get very repetitive...we'll see. I'll probably get it on one format but not for a while and definitely when the price has dropped!

Apologies if this is posted twice. PH appears to have gone nuts!

I played it when I got in and I'll be honest - I stopped halfway through. Not because it's pants, but because it was so bloomin' scary. I think I'll be picking this one up...

The first was incredible.
Genuinely scary in places, and somewhat atmosperhic and scary where corpses are being chucked around rooms and all you can see are shadows...
Will have to try the new demo! biggrin

The Demo is FUC8ING Brilliant, Iv'e dona all FEAR so far and really can't wait to get to grips with ALMA again, play it with the lights off and using headphones it's well atmospheric, downright scarey too!

I've just Dl'd it too, played once then had to stop to do soemthing else but I couldn't find a save game option. Is there or does it go back to a checkpoint when you go back? No idea how far I was in I had just gone through the tube train and then through the next section.

completed the demo 3 times now, first time was uterly sh!t scared.. 2nd time to scare mates and 3rd time to actually try and find all the weapons etc.

Im not a massive fan of the ultimate scary game, but i really enjoyed the demo. The graphics arnt anything above normal in todays world but.. and the key thing is that the game play takes your focus off this and into jumping out of your skin everytime some ghostly object apears on your screen. Thumbs up from me, altho its unlikely ill buy it as id never ever complete it lol.

I picked up FEAR cheaply months and months ago so I really ought to play that before I try FEAR2, I suppose!

Is it as good as people say? Too many games and too little time, that's my problem frown Ah well, at least I've completed Fallout 3 now. Just GoW2 and Dead Space to start now before I can maybe turn my attention to FEAR!

FEAR did suffer from bland levels at times and lack of varied enemies, which it gets marked down by some reviewers but from the environments your in such as industrial plants and urban blocks they aren't exactly meant to be asthetically appealing in the first place are they?

Play FEAR on it's hardest level and you'll get some great battles from time to time and they'll never play out the same due to the good AI. I did feel that the first expansion Extraction Point offered more intense combat though than the first and the hospital level is possibly the most chilling level I've played outside of some AvP levels in a game.

If you see past the bland level design in places there is more than enough in it to entertain you for a while.

yes

I haven't done all the expansions, think I half finsihed extraction but never even started the one after that.
Think I need to go through them all before 2 is out. smile
