My JCW (supercharged) is due a service - trip comp tells me it is an oil service and a quick call to my local mini garage informs me that for an oil change, oil filter change and pollen filter change, its going to cost me £140...

That seems a helluva lot to me!

Opie oils will be my first port of call for some fully synth oil, but can anyone point me in the direction of somewhere i can get hold of an oil and pollen filter - may well either DIY or get a local garage to do for me. Oh, and to save me looking it up, if anyone knows what oil grade to go for that would be good (i did ask the mini garage 5 mins ago, but ive forgotten...)

Alternatively, if anyone can reccomend a decent indy in and around Blackburn that would be spot on.

Thanks

BMW will do the parts or try MINI sport 01282 778731 or mini spares 01707 607700 how do mail order (there are a number of others). They will also be able to help with what oil to use and supply it.

Derek Woodmans will sell you the parts for the best price, speak with Chris and say you got his details from MINI2 and you'll get about 10% list price, and good advice on what you need.

You can then fit yourself, or get a local guy to do it for you

thanks for the steer.

not much joy on the mini parts or mini spares site but ive tried opie oils and they seem to come up trumps.

site suggests using:

UFI hydraulic oil filter element in pleated paper 25.034.00 £4.60

and

UFI active carbon cabin air filter 54.137.00 (which im assuming is the pollen filter?!) £11.04

any comments welcome before i purchase!

£15 + about £50 for 5litres of oil and it makes you wonder where the heck the other £100 i was quoted goes!!

Generally an oil service is £70 with the oil, filter and pollen filter

anyone suggest an oil grade to go for?

0W 30 seems to be popular. Does the mini have a 5litre capacity does anyone know?

4.8 l and 5w 30 castrol edge?

Isn't the MINI recommendation Fully Synthetic 0W 30?
