Just found it on offer at the local shop and decided to get a few in for old times sake (haven't had any for years). Now on the first glass and I'd forgotton what truly lovely stuff it is. Can you tell I have a day off tomorrow?

My local serves Duvel, and I'll partake every other week or so. Other good 'uns they serve are all colours of Chimay (Blue is my label of choice), Erdinger Weiss and Dunkel, Piraat, Leifmans Kreik and Frambozen, Leffe Blonde on draught.

No wonder it takes me ages to decide what to imbibe when I'm there!

Used to great living over there. The supermarket would just have row after row of fantastic bottled beers. Hardly a can of Fosters in sight!

You'd tend to buy plastic crates of bottles, then get your crate deposit back when you went back.

...when I was over in Belgium late last year I stocked up on four dozen Chimay Red....last one was drunk a few days ago . Got to source some over here....can get a six pack at Majestic with a complimentary glass for a tenner but I have more than enough of those glasses now.

My brother used to live in Belgium and on a visit to him when I was about 20 we drank about 8 each. I think. Can't remember that well really.

It's perfect when poured in the correct glass with a mahoosive head!

I'm doing a few days per week in Holland at present, and have found and imbibed ambrosia in the form of Westvleteren 12.



Trappist beer is a beautiful thing indeed.
