Something made me giggle today :P

I pulled into a parking area that overlooks Dunstable downs, and provides parking for people who are off for a yomp in the countryside. I thought i would park up and watch the goings on down the valley where the gliders take off from. It turns out that all the parking spots along the edge (with a decent view) have been given over to disabled parking. Presumably this is so that people who can't walk very far, don't have very far to walk to start their nature hike...

I was almost pissing myself when this old boy in a Jag turned up and waited for a disabled spot to open up, before he got his zimmer frame out and went off for his 2 mile walk leaving his empty car enjoying a spectacular view :P

It's funny because I can see no reason to provide convenient parking for a nature hike for people who can't even make it across a car park...

Similar thing at the Xscape snow slope in Castleford, millions of disabled spots, always empty, never any disableds on piste for some reason?

I'm familiar with the car park. On a clear day you can see five counties and teh view is spectacular, especially if there's dozens of gloders overhead. Why not let those who can't walk have the best view from the car park and let others park 20ft further away and have to walk to see the better view.

Seeing as you know the car park. Would you agree that a fairer policy might be that people should not leave their vehicle unattended in those spots?

If you are healthy enough to leave that car park on foot, you can damn well park a few feet further away!

Its the same at the MK Snowdome , no wheelchairs on the slopes at all when i have been there. They must all be at the indoor Sky Diving center.

Great, so now you want someone to struggle accross the car park on a zimmer frame or in a wheelchair, risking holding up cars trying to park for a while, all because you wanted to sit in your car whilst you ate lunch.

ETA: seriously though, if they are going to struggle negotiating 15ft of tarmac, the muddy tracks they are heading for might not be such a good idea.
