I've returned to the BMW fold with a 330i (two weeks old and just run in). Oil temperature hovers around 95 degrees but handbook suggests "normal" is 100-120 degrees. Is what I'm seeing normal at this time of year?

I would suggest that is perfectly normal. My oil temp doesn't usually get much past 90 at the moment. Hard driving on a hot day - 110 perhaps.

As an aside, I've noticed VAG cars often seem to run higher temps than that though

My 330i (Coupe) has an oil temperature guage at the bottom of the rev counter (instead of a fuel consumption guage). I believe this is fitted to current 6 cylinder petrol coupes (not sure on saloons).

Mine's an 05 saloon and has the consumption instead.
