Hi all.

Im hoping someone will be able to help!!??

Im currently stripping a Fiat/Lancia twin cam engine and have found what i feared most - crank damage. No4 big end bearing is totally destroyed and has scored the crank too. So much for "its a good engine"!!! And of course you cannot regrind the 2ltr cranks! Great.

Anyway, im looking for a 2ltr twin cam crank from a Fiat Tipo 16v, Fiat coupe 16v or turbo or a Lancia Delta 8v or 16v.

Also, for the same project im looking for a set of forged pistons and maybe rods?

Hope someone can help

Thanks in advance
Matt

I spoke to Steve Smith at Walkers last week about regrinding the crank and he said the same, so off to the machine shop i went with my crank. Guess what they said - yes we can regrind it but with whats already been taken off there isnt enough left to clean it up without going beyond the biggest oversize bearing available!! Bugger!!!!
So.... im looking for a (good) twin cam crank!!!

Anyone know if the crank is the same in any of the alfa engines??

The motor is from a Delta Ingrale. If i manage to remember how to put in all back together it is supposed to be going in a Panda.

Nice looking motor by the way!!!

Matt,

Have a word with Keith at Auto Integrale (01189 710281) http://auto-integrale.co.uk/

He sells forged pistons and conrods at good prices plus he keeps a lot of secondhand stock so maybe able to help with a crank.

Cheers,
Chris

Any crank from a 16v coupe n/a or turbo, tipo 16v n/a or any other uses of the 2.0litre 16v engine are the same and forged as standard. As for re-grinding them, well.., it's debatable on who you speak to. Guy Croft for one says this http://guy-croft.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=520

There seems to be arguments both ways regarding grinding the twin cam cranks doesnt there. Im rather worried that im building something thats fundamentaly flawed to start with! Have said that Steve at Walkers (who has to be one of the most friendly and helpfull blokes i have ever met!) says that they regrind them all the time with no problems.

Any ideas if any of the Alfa engines use the same crank? I know that the later 16v twin spark engines use a 'fiat sourced block'

The search for an engine continues.................

I have a complete Uno Turbo I was going to use in my Panda, all you need to do is use the drivers side Panda mount and modify the Uno gearbox mount, swap looms, make up a front mounted intercooler to go inside the bumper, swap the Uno hubs and either strenghen the Panda drive shafts or have a pair custom made (about £200 by Reco-Prop). Uno Turbo's are good for about 200bhp any more they become less reliable.

Thanks for the offer. I nearly bought an Uno turbo for it but then i got talking to Steve at Walkers and now i own a (really rusty) Integrale donar car!!!
Managed to get a crank sorted from...................Walkers.(there seems to be a theme developing here!!) Block is at the maching shop at the mo. Taking the crank and flywheel tomorrow for lightening/balancing. Might have something to put together soon!!!
