The fit seems to vary. I sometimes think that the fit achieved is largely down to the tolerances in the original BL/BMC shell (not the most close of tolerances!), if that makes sense.
I generally get my body panels from Mini Spares and have never had any really serious issues with fit, even with the pattern parts, although I tend to buy the Heritage panels when they are available, even though they cost a bit more, quality being remembered long after price is forgotten.
Recently I did an A-panel, inner and outer plus a front wing. The Inner A-panel was a pattern part, the outer was a Heritage panel and the wing was a pattern one. This is all for a 1966 Mini. They went together extremely well, even though I did not need a new front panel. In fact, the alignment looks very accurate.
Now I'm working on the other side and that seems fine as well, although it's not all finally welded together yet.
The panels from 'M-Machine' in the N.E. are also well recommended.
I hope this helps,
Peter
