Hi
I am fairly new here so don't want to cause any upsets so thought it would only be fair to ask this question before posting any information.
There is a Griff advertised on Autotrader that has been a write off and the seller has not declared it, i'm sure that most people do a check before laying out their hard earn't cash, but I just didn't want anyone getting stung on here when it could have been pointed out. So do I name and shame or leave it to the purchaser/victim to find out for themselves??

You could be a bit more specific anyway without invoking N&S rules wink Personally I don't think pointing out an unequivocal fact like that one would breach N&S ethics anyway.

How did you find out? Did you HPI check it and it came up? Did you ask him upfront and he said yes it had been written off?

I only ask as I am in the market for a Griff and wouldn't want a wasted journey looking at one that the seller has not been forthcoming with the information.

Obviously I will be HPI checking the vehicle and getting a specialist to give it a good poke before I pass with my money.

Yes i did a hpi check on the car as i could see the reg from the advert. A friend of mine asked me to check the car out as he was interested in buying it as it looked realy good value for money. But as with most things there is always a reason why something is cheap lol.
Just to give you the heads up it is a 1999 T reg which the seller is asking 10k for so he has priced it as damaged repaired just forgot to mention it.

Yes that does look a bit of a bargain and would certainly set the alarm bells ringing that there may be something more to it. There is a clue in the last sentence of the advert though wink

If you report it to Autotrader, I am pretty sure they will do something about the ad - either change it or advise the seller to change it

Very naughty not to admit to that minor detail!

If it has good documentation showing damage and repair pictures and receipts then it may be a great car at a reasonable price. lots of threads debating this, but mine is written off and is better now than it was before smile
