Cheap Hybrid - Saracen Venturer 2?

I'm looking to buy a hybrid, mainly for use on the Bristol-Bath cycle path (tarmac), and canal and river tow paths. It will also get used on road. I don't want to spend more that £250 - £300 and like the look of the Saracen Venturer 2. Went to have a look at one in Halfords and it seemed fine (unlike Halfords, where I was the invisible man), but web prices are £50 less than Halfords.
