Hi All

My PS2 recently gave up the ghost after many hours on Gran Turismo 4. I would love to replace it with a PS3 but simply cannot afford it at the moment, so I am considering getting an XBox 360 instead, particularly as you can get a good recon one for <£100.

I have very little knowledge of the Xbox though, and am not sure which driving games are similar to GT4 and which are not. Can anyone recommend some to me?

Cheers

James

Another vote for Forza2. Dug it out last night, and it's still class.

Forza again gets my vote.

Grid is very VERY arcade based and just wasn't for me.

Race Pro is coming in Feb which looks good.

You can pick up a brand new arcade for £100 quid every few weeks through offers (Sainsburys, Blockbusters etc)...Look for the new one with the 'Jasper' mainboard, less likely to suffer from failure eventually.

Cheers Zeek. How would I know which board it has?

I've got an Arcade package which I bought as a spare whilst mine was being repaired. It's been used about 4 or 5 times so basically brand new. There's a few (older) games including PGR3 that I'd be happy to sling in. If you want it, I'll let you have it for £120 with the games. PM me if you're interested...I'm near Heathrow.

Edit: Just noticed you're in Dorset. If you were interested, I could TNT it to you.

The million dollar question!

If you don't take up B16's great offer, then you'll be looking for something manufactured after the last week of October. They are only really appearing in Arcades at the moment, because that is where the volume sales are. I'm sure they will appear in the next few weeks in the other bundles.

The guaranteed way to tell is to look for a 12.1A reading on the back of the console, to the left of the serial number. The Falcon chipset shows 14.2A. You can see this label through a window on the box which is cut out so that they can see the bar code on the back of the console, so you don't need to open it up, but you might have to wiggle it a bit to see it!

From memory, I think you can tell by looking for XGX-000023 and 843X or above on the external sticker, although you'll need to check for the 12.1A to be certain.

All the info you need can be found on the jasper hunting thread here! http://www.avforums.com/forums/xbox-360-hardware/8...

Blockbusters seem to have had the bulk of them so far in the UK, but they have started appearing elsewhere now.

Thanks for the offer B16, and apologies for not relpying more quickly.

I had a word with Mrs.cv01jw about it and we decided to hold off until our we had completed our remortgaging (went through on Friday 13th!).

It turns out it was all a ruse all along anyway, because my valentines present ended up being a completely unexpected 360 arcade!

Just need to go find Forza 2 now....

Cheers guys.

Another good racing game nobody has mention which is cheap is Flatout Ultimate carnage, i borught this off ebay recently for £6 and it has given me hours of play. Its an arcade stock racing game. If you want a more serious racer then Forza 2 can be had for a tenner, grid is about £19 on Play atm.

have fun...
