Yep, I got my parents one for their Wedding Anniversary, so they can call themselves Laird and Lady... I don't think they do, nor have they got the bank details etc.. It's probably sat in a drawer somewhere.

BUT, I think it's rather good all the same...

Erm, I thought the deal was that you only get to call yourself 'lord' when you're actually on your land - which is a bit crap if you have 1 square foot :P Actually, I think when you do these deals (in England) you are actually getting a 'lord of the manor' title which does NOT give you the right to call yourself 'lord'

bloke in my parents village did this, bought himself a title relating to the village somehow, then bought a 5 acre field opposite my parents house and tried to use the title to persuade the council to give him planning permission for a castle (seriously, it had castellated towers etc on the submitted plans...)

Fortunately the council saw him as the sad wker he was and told him to F off, much like everyone else in the village.
