Tacky, a bit of a laugh or any real benefits?

So you get to buy a square foot of land for 30 quid? Plus, essentially, the 'right' to call yourself a landowner. Bargain.

bloke in my parents village did this, bought himself a title relating to the village somehow, then bought a 5 acre field opposite my parents house and tried to use the title to persuade the council to give him planning permission for a castle (seriously, it had castellated towers etc on the submitted plans...)
Fortunately the council saw him as the sad w
ker he was and told him to F off, much like everyone else in the village.
