Chav-Free holidays
Discussion
A tour company has been criticised for offering "chav-free holidays".
An excellent idea in my opinion, I'd hate to spend money going on holiday only to be surrounded by chavs. Unfortunately they're not actually doing any sort of chav test, they just searched their databases of customers and didn't spot a single "chav name".

General rule of thumb is to avoid beaches within a 5 hour flight time of UK where the local language is Spanish. That would tend to cut the risk dramatically. An excellent idea in my opinion, I'd hate to spend money going on holiday only to be surrounded by chavs. Unfortunately they're not actually doing any sort of chav test, they just searched their databases of customers and didn't spot a single "chav name".

Personally, I hate to go on holidays surrounded by people called 'Tarquin' and 'Jocasta'.An excellent idea in my opinion, I'd hate to spend money going on holiday only to be surrounded by chavs. Unfortunately they're not actually doing any sort of chav test, they just searched their databases of customers and didn't spot a single "chav name".

Seems a bit of an insult, especially if you've had their name for like 20 - 30 years before the term Chav was even coined.
And I can guarantee that there are names on their customer list that people could potentially label as Chav but they just decided to ignore.
Sort of pretentious crap that you associate with people who want to be perceived as being middle class, but really are just debted upto their eye balls!

You could, I suppose, refine my theory by adding not to go anywhere which has one of those overseas Butlinsesque resorts. At least at Butlins the punters are honest and true, not trying to hide anything. The overseas resorts seem to have people who believe they are a cut above Butlins, when they are clearly a level below.

Listen to this hideous quote from 'Candice':
"I own my own business, have a post graduate degree, an undergraduate degree, 4 A-Levels, an advanced diploma in Life Skills, a diploma in Performance Coaching, GCSEs, speak French and Italian and drive a Merc. Happy slap that".
Ooh, a Merc. Well you definitely can't be a chav then*...

- Not that I have a single thing against Mercs but what kind of chav uses the car they drive as proof they aren't a chav...?

Besides, chavs don't actually think they're chavs so this isn't exactly going to put them off!
That's true. It's all relative isn't it? I bet there are loads of people on here who are always banging on about 'the chavs' who other posters wouldn't want to holiday anywhere near.
I think the only people who could possibly be upset by what is clearly just a publicity seeking exercise are those who have names which are now considered by some to be 'chav names'. Innit.

Life coaches etc. Certainly people worthy of a slap but not with any happiness involved. It's no different from interior design. It's just a group of people who want to wheedle into your life, put you down and for the sole purpose of containing their own issues of inferiority."I own my own business, have a post graduate degree, an undergraduate degree, 4 A-Levels, an advanced diploma in Life Skills, a diploma in Performance Coaching, GCSEs, speak French and Italian and drive a Merc. Her quote absolutely and completely defines her as just the sort of frightful individual that I would pay any amount of money NOT to find myself on the same holiday with"I own my own business, have a post graduate degree, an undergraduate degree, 4 A-Levels, an advanced diploma in Life Skills, a diploma in Performance Coaching, GCSEs, speak French and Italian and drive a Merc.
