Who makes the best Black Pudding in the UK????
Discussion
Guys,
Any recomendations for the best Black Pudding in the UK?
Some of the ones that "claim" to be the best aren't actually very good! Big chewy chunks of fat and poorly spiced!
A restaurant we used to frequent (now sadly closed when chef moved back to France!) used to serve a fantastic Black Pudding - it was beuatifully textured and must have come in smaller "sausages" as the diameter of a "slice" was about 1 to 1.5 inches - they served it sliced into coin sized pieces - was fantastic with most things - particularly the old faithful of scallops.
They did once tell me where they bought them from and for the life of me I can't remember the name of the company - but they were in Liconlshire or Lancashire! The company was something like Dougy Lampkin!! (not the famous Trial bike rider!) or Davey Rambottom ...or Danny Robertson!...or somesuch!
Anyone know of any decent manufacturers???...(or even know who the hell I'm on about!)

But Bury is home to the Black Pudding.

There was a small company on Rick Steins local food heroes program who were from Bury. Their black pudding is purportedly superb. You could try googling for it perhaps?
A little north of Bury but here you go - http://www.rsireland.co.uk/production.htmLove black pudding - and this guy's(up in the Western Isles) has to be up there with the best. Available to order on-line: http://www.donaldrussell.com/pages/product/product...

Black Pudding from Brindisa www.brindisa.com is very nice. Made in Spain rather than the UK though...

I know that Rimmer bloke talks about "veggie" black pudding, but it's about as real as veggie haggis! (still at least Katie K would like it)JimexPL said:

My favourite black pudding is from Spain, they call it morcilla down in the Almeria region and it's a soft meat rather than sliceable.Really tasty and our local tapas bar buys it from here;
