Personally I like the 1275GT as there is so much room to work on it under the bonnet compared to the ordinary Mini.
It can be hard to find some GT parts, but they are out there somewhere and you just need to keep on looking in the specialist magazines, web sites like this and autojumbles.
I built a historic rally 1275GT a few years ago with a good engine spec and a Weber carb which gave 108 bhp at 6200 rpm.
You should get in touch with my grandson Dennis, "Mayfair Kid", who sometimes posts on here. He is 14 and has done a very full restoration on a 1986 Mayfair.
Good luck with your project. Everyone on here will provide whatever advice and assistance they can. We are a friendly bunch!

But you still end up with minor brain surgery every time you forget that the bonnet catch is inches above your scalp, then stand up.
Even when you remove the scab, from the scab, from the scar still heeling.....

Clubmans are far more special and a Peter says there is more space under the bonnet, except of course down the back where the bulkhead still sits couple of inches from the block.
