Paint too soft????

Followed a car on saturday not to close and it kicked up a few small stones (road dust)i was doing around 35mph, i tried to avoid but could'nt when i parked up i had a look at the front of my car and it looks like someone has sand blasted it!!!! Some of the chips are massive now this might sound stupid but i have had this many times before in my other cars and only ended up with tiny chips or very small marks. This is my first ferrari and just wondered if they have a different paint because i need to get it re-sprayed at the front now! May sound stupid but find this very odd! Does anyone know a good bodyshop in the beds/herts area?

Had similar problems when I had a car painted. Over 3000 chips in 1500 miles. Paint by some bodyshops is never as hard as the original. It's a complete nightmare. Perhaps your car has had the front re-done. Had my other car plastic guarded when that was painted, and that leads to it's own problems also.

If you buy Ventureshield, it doesn't stick, looks crap, and doesn't fully protect the front of the car anyway!

I've said this many times, but for some reason, Ferrari paint is useless!

No other low-slung sports car stone-chips as easily as a Ferrari.

Two F430s I've had have needed front-end resprays after a couple of thousand miles, whereas the front of my Z06 was still ok after 15k miles.

Have had the car from new and never been painted thats why i find it strange. Sounds like a good idea to get plastic guard after respray just need to find a good one by the sounds of it.

I got the front of the granturismo protected from guam from this very site. The film was clear, you only knew it was there if somone told you or you felt the very edge of the panels. Best of all iit works. A metal tmobile sign fell off a bus on the a40 as I passed it at about 40 mph. The sign rubbed all up the bonnet and up the front pillar. The pinky red transfer stayed on the plastic and even wiped off, no damage whatsoever.

Daft as it seems, it may be that the paint was too HARD, hence more brittle and chips more easily. A slightly softer paint will give ever so slightly and be less prone to chipping.

To soft or to hard i still think it should'nt chip so easily to say im p***ed of is an understatement!!!
