Come on then all you parents out there - How the hell do you get a 9 month old to swallow medicine once he's decided he doesn't like it? I can get it into his mouth OK with a syringe, but he absolutely WILL NOT swallow it. Soon as the opportunity arises he spits it out.

When the first V6 sprog went through a phase of doing this we ended up hiding the meds in milk.

we were going to try that, problem is it's VERY strongly flavoured and perfumed (why the hell can't they just make childrens medicine bland, or milk flavour?!) and once tricked once he will refuse to eat or drink ANYTHING for hours.

Don't know, but I dread the day. We've been told that mixing it with jam in a sandwich works but thankfully MiniMechs sucks it out of the syringe so hard you don't have to depress the plunger

Is he still on a bottle? (I can't remember what age they stop) If so, could you mix with the milk?

Ahhhh just you wait mate, MiniDavi used to do that - just this latest batch of meds - you can smell it from the next room, frankly I don't blame him not wanting it. Nothing quite like having a facefull of orange flavoured antibiotic and spittle to start your day.

To this day, our eldest hates the taste of Calpol. As a baby, however, she didn't mind it mixed with milk.

Yup - we are on 5x daily medication and it tastes foul. After 5 months of this it;s th eonly way I can get my daughter to take it.

Right that's first on the list for tonight's dose. Frankly if it goes down I'm not going to feel at all bad as it's definitely helping!

Some medicines don't mix with milk, but otherwise a very good plan.

Mixed with chocolate spread - worked every time with my fussy daughter, even when making her take anti-malarial meds which are quite bitter tasting !!
