Heard about this on the radio this morning, something is seriously wrong with these people and the the goverment etc for allowing it to happen.

You couldn't just have anyone building low cost homes for the disabled in areas where young people can't afford to buy. What would the government take any credit for then?

Whilst this case is particularly upsetting, I can understand the mongs at the council not allowing planning permission due to his injuries. You'd get rogue developers lopping off limbs left, right and centre as an aid to appeals, it would get messy.

Jaglover you're a heartless dick aren't you. The council have discretionary powers, why not let him build his bungalow ?

From what i heard on the radio, it is :- Both legs, his bum and his lower back.

I don't want to start a dibate about if he is a hero or not, but he received these injuries trying to defend our rights, and we (local council) should give him some slack.

Maybe its not about the upside of not allowing this guy to do it, maybe its about the downside of allowing it. I'll ask again, will it set a precedent that can be used in future cases?

If you want to argue that the compensation received from the government for his injuries is insufficient I might well agree with you. However planning permission should not be granted on this basis, but on what is a suitable use for the land, bearing in mind local planning priorities.

This is a typical Daily Mail article IMO, emotive rubbish.
