Hello All,

Just some advice if anyone has experience of seat replacements.

I have a pre-cat Griff which was fitted with Cerbera seats before my time with the car. Thankfully i was lucky enough to get the original seats with the car. I had the pleasure of driving a Chim the other day with originals and at 6ft 2" i was quite impressed by the lower seating position afforded by the original seats.

On sunday i want to swap the original seats back into the car. One of the originals is missing the sliding rail and adjuster. My question to those in the know is can i take the adjusting slider of the cerb seat and fit it to the griff seat without modification. It would be nice to know before i start if i need to source a new part or not.

Next question - where is the best place to ofload the Cerb seats as i'm unlikely to want them back in the Griff. Also how much would they be worth - convienience is more important than getting the absolute top price but it would be interesting to know.

Thanks in advance

Tildo

I may be interested in the Cerb seats, at the right price...

I am aiming to recover mine (the squab is torn and the sides are worn) and fit heated pads while I'm at it, but I use mine every day, so I have been looking around for a spare set to refurb, then I can just swap them out on a weekend.

Let me know the price when you have decided.

Having looked on Fleabay and various classifieds, i'd expect anywhere between £200 to £300 dependant on condition.

Douglas valley breakers are asking £287 for magnolia Chimeara seats in average condition and over £500 for Tamora seats.

Surely the title would say Tuscan seats are coming out then??

OP: put them in classifieds to start with or offload them onto one of the chaps above who want them. shame im not looking to referb a set just yet or i'd have them if they decided against having them.

I've just taken the Cerb seats out of mine while I get on with the body lift.
If you want I can get photos of the rails so you can get a feel for it - or you're welcome to come up and have a look / play for yourself. I'm near East Mids Airport.

Its a simple to remove the seats though, no more than 10 mins and you'd have one out.

What colour are yours?

Thanks for the reply's.

The seats are a bicuit (mushroom?) colour and i'm pretty sure they are the early cerb seats if the later ones were shared with the Tuscan.

Barreti - thanks for the offer. I'm hoping it will be very straight forward but i may take you up on your kind offer of a few photo's if it all goes wrong.

I'm quite looking forward to getting down low and bouncing around the interior again bounce

I can't imagine having to go to the original seats versus the Cerb seats. Each top their own and no criticism to be taken from it but I find the original seats terrible compared to the Cerberra seats mine came with.

In terms of lumber support (inflatble in my Cerb seats), lateral support, base length of seat and fitting my ample frame (6'3 and 16 stone) into a Cerberra seat keeps me pinned in the seat, with the old seats I always found I was sorting of sittong on top of them and on track spent too much time having to brace myself, although I have spent vastly more time in the old seats in the passenger side on track days I have spent time driving both Chimaeras and Griffiths on the road with the old seats and wouldn't go back.

Haven't tried the Tuscan/Tamora seats in a Griffith so can't comment.

I find the old seats very comfortable and have added CG locks which hold you firmly in.

As already said Johno - i fully appreciate the difference in the lateral support both seats offer. My motive is part due to wanting a lower seated position and part due to my personal preference for original equipment.

I'll definately get a few miles with the originals in to make sure i'm not making the wrong decision before hopefully selling the cerb seats.

Mac,
Got all mine from here:
http://www.carlimits.com/shop/product.php?p=41
£35 each delivered which is the best price i've seen.
Got 4 in total; 2 in my Griff, 1 in Andrea's and 1 in the Skoda.
They are really impressive and keep you secure in the seat.

Fully appreciate the OE position.

However, my experience has been that the Cerb seats are lower and originals are only ever lower because the wiring underneath has corroded and you are in fact sitting on foam on the floor. You'll soon be able to tell once their out of the car. Hopefully it isn't the case and that it's a combination of different seating positions and preferences.

My experience is that replacing the original seats with Cerb seats does make you sit higher in the car. Mine are MK1 seats with the fixed squab, I think I'm right in saying its the MK2 versions that have a removable squab which may make a difference.

I documented the conversion process for Ballistic Banana and The Griffith Pages, including how I measured the difference in height.
