If I'm going less than twenty miles I cycle, I had to do it because I was banned and now I choose to so I can offset the Carbon of owning two MGB GTs, a GPZ1100, ZXR400, Uno Turbo, 205 GTI 1.9, GSXR7/11 drag bike and a Fiat Panda (if work is more than 20 miles away). I've been stopped for speeding on my mountain bike a couple of times and until they pass a law making it compulsary to have a speedometer fitted the authorities can keep annoying me all they like. I'm toying with the idea of getting a recumbent or building one myself as they are faster, more comfortable and would increase my range. What do you lot think? P.S Yes I know dangerous cycling can carry up to a £1000 fine but there is no law regarding speeding on a cycle that you can be convicted/prossicuted for.

Recumbents are known to work slightly more efficiently with the body, resulting in higher average speed for less effort. But remember that you will be practically invisible as you are so low. Pulling out of poorly-sighted junctions can be rather rectum-twitching as your head is so far back. Still, if your roads aren't very busy, feel free to take a punt at it.

Regarding "dangerous cycling": Irrespective of any laws, simply cycle to the conditions and defensively without bringing unnecessary attention to yourself, and you should be fine.

Oh, and it's probably best to forget about supporting global communism. wink

That has to be hugely more aerodynamic than a normal bike, but sheesh, that small front wheel with most of the weight on it eek ...

No you haven't, but if you do get stopped all the time and you buy a recumbent and you are going to end up traveling through time.

You in training for London 2012 ?
