£2 million on advertising how bad cannabis is
Discussion
Seriously have the goverment not got anything better to do than waste money on telling people that something is bad for them !
Evreryone who smokes cannabis does does not give a monkeys about their "studies" they know this aswell but I suppose they have to make out as if thier doing something about the problem
The whole cannabis will make you insane bla bla is getting boring now.The way I see it is for example :
1 in a 1000 people will be pyhsco muderers
1 in a 100 people will smoke cannabis
Means that out of every 1000 murders 10 can be blamed on cannabis "making the person do it "
Also it is impossible to overdose on cannabis, there have been ZERO deaths directly linked to cannabis. Yet drinking kills thousands due to drink driving.
I don't get what everyone has against cannabis when have you ever heard of people getting stoned and going out on a voilent robbing spree...I gurantee everyone would be a bit more chilled if they smoked .
Well I just want to chat and get on with evryone when Im blazed I carn't be bothered with arguements , hassle , confrontations etc
What is evryone elses views on the matter?

It's a health issue, isn't it..?
I know it's fairly rare but, if you had a close relative with cannabis induced mental problems blighting his life 15 years after giving it up, you might have a different view.
How do you know they wern't going to have mental problems anyway ?I know it's fairly rare but, if you had a close relative with cannabis induced mental problems blighting his life 15 years after giving it up, you might have a different view.
Im not disputing its bad for you but in moderation it does little harm compared to other legal substances
Cannabis is seen, rightly or wrongly, as a gateway drug.
The rise in its use and the general acceptance by the vast majority of society as being no more noteworthy than a pint of mild has put them on the back foot.
They can't legalise and tax it (which they would love to do) because the healthcare and anti smoking people will cut theirfunding nuts off.
They can't get 'really' tough on it because they will lose far more votes than they will win (see point 2).
Piss and wind, piss and wind.
Mean time those that do will continue to do so, those that can't risk the record will continue to add to the Dutch tourist trade, and those that hate it will continue to claim that your first J will have you reaching for the crack pipe within the week, if the cancer hasn't killed you first. Either that or you will go mad.
The only thing more cockeyed than political opinion on cannabis is their approach to road safety.

Sudden character change, medical diagnosis and acknowledgement from the horse's mouth does it for me...
I'll go with that and have seen you posts on the topic before. The problem is that it is something which can always be believed to be the case but can not be proved. It's a bit like the fact that if any smoker dies of a heart attack their death will be attributed to the fags, not the fact they just saw you get out the shower

Correlation does not equal causation.

Think you're cobbling a couple of different stats together there to make your argument better.Do you work for the Labour government?

well the gateway thing is a load of crap... {snip} ...about as stupid as blaming cannabis for all the crack heads

Was talking to an American friend about this at the weekend (she's based in Washington and deals with medicare policy stuff).
Apparently over there it's so generally accepted that only the old gateway perception keeps it squared in with the nasty stuff.

Wrong. There have been many cases of people killed by drivers who were unfit to drive through drug use. I dare say a reasonable proportion of those are cannabis.tom2019 said:

The problem I have with cannabis is not the drug itself, but the fact that its purchase and use funds all sorts of scrotes and criminals who also commit many other crimes of the sort that PHers regularly b
h about on here.Which is a good arguement for legalization. The best one of course is that it is simply no business of any state what one ingests... Also interesting to compare the laws on arsenic and antibiotics too when there are clear public health benefits in restricting availability.
Any how I'm just going to get my vapouriser going and inhale er eucalyptus.

Vast majority of people who sell cannabis are very small time, home grow, to mates of mates.
h about on here. There is surprisingly little 'mr big' involved in most areas.
Of course there is the argument to say that [b]if[/i] many people are introduced to stronger drugs and fund worse crimes through the wish to have a toke, as they can only buy from these sorts of people, best answer is to free the weed.
