Don't really know how to describe it, but the steering on my Focus feels a bit 'vague' and 'lumpy', on a 90,000 mile car.

Noticed it mainly after driving the GF's Yaris, it feels like it takes a while for the wheels to react to steering input sometimes? Not really got much of a benchmark for comparision but would a power steering fluid change go any way to helping the problem?

not really i would have thought, but check the self adjusting tensioner as when my steering started to fell a bit vauge on my mk1 a few weeks later my aux belt started squeling all the time, try changing the belt first and see how you get on

I'm not too bad, I've done oil changes, brakes, etc on bikes...
