Council Tax - where our money goes.

Of course most of it goes on salaries, because it's a lot of the people who actually provide the services - bin men, social workers, home care workers, teachers (although they are paid from a different funding stream), etc.

Does it heck. It goes on rafts of unnecessary management and overpaid blue collar workers. And now, despite huge Council tax bills, the Government now wants to charge a bin tax on top of that.

The 'bin tax' has been dropped because not one council in the country supported it or was prepared to take part in trials.

How long would their wages be covered and if they went on strike, mission accomplished..stay on strike..

Council tax is a very small percentage of councils' total income, a 1% increase is probably in the region of £50,000.

Some Pikey rishole managed to get retrospective planning approval for his woodyard which is 300 meters along a bridal path from my property. One of the conditions of his approval was that he could not have ANY fires on his property. He was essentially running an open air incinerator on his property.

If he does it again I'm seriously considering bringing a private prosecution against him and adding the council onto the action for failing to fulfil their civic responsibilities - that a laff isn't it. HGowever, I think it should focus their minds to their obligations.

Surrey County Council pay it's top 14 executives £1.65m a year in salaries. Businesses in my home town pay a staggering £33m in council tax each year - and they're putting the rates up by 5% again this year.

They really know how to coin it in these boys.
