The 2009 BARC Westfield series has just published it's race dates.

Round 1 - 18th & 19th April -Rockingham
Round 2/3 - 10th May - Mallory Park
Round 4/5 - 6th & 7th June - Brands Hatch
Round 6 - 28th June - Thruxton
Round 7/8 - 18th & 19th July - Castle Combe
Round 9/10 - 22nd & 23rd August - Croft
Round 11/12 - 26th & 27th September - Snetterton


If anyone's looking at racing this year there is a lot to like about the BARC series.

• 5 of the 7 rounds will be double headers so you get max racing for your money/weekend time as well as reducing the amount of time away from family and travel costs.

• Several of the rounds will be run as part of the Dunlop Great & British festival so you’ll get some fancy support races and decent crowds.

• If you’re under 30 you have a chance to enter the Dunlop Sports Max competition, even if you are a current MSA licence holder. Check out the following website for details on how to win a seasons racing and a rung on the ladder to bigger and better things. http://www.driversknow.co.uk

• It’s only open to Westfields and the class structure will ensure close racing for low costs.

• The camaraderie is great, although this is my first season I’ve had no end of support already.

• Several winners have gone onto drive in top series ie. Stewart Linn won the British GT4 category this year and several professional drivers made guest appearances last year.

• Complete Kit Car magazine are covering the series (I know this because I’m the one doing it )

I raced in the series for the first time last year and it was some of the closest racing I've experienced in 18 years of competing in a multitude of different series. The first 12 cars on the grid at the penultimate race at Brands were divided by less that 1 second!

There are many formulas that can't offer half the buzz for more than 4 or 5 times the cost. This is fast and credible racing on a budget. A great bunch, always ready to help out. No room for prima donnas! Awesome!

The grids should be bigger this year with the introduction of the new C1 & C2 classes.

Can't wait for the season to start!
