Apologies in advance if this has been done before.
We seem to spend a lot of time & energy arguing over statistics. eg the mythical 1/3, the % accidents caused by excessive speed and, of course, crime & detection rates.

I'd like to arm myself with facts before wading into battle, so my question is this: Are convictions for speeding and the like included in published crime and detection statistics?

For example, if I were succesfully prosecuted on the basis of Gatso evidence, just once, would that constitute, for the purpose of statistics:

1 x crime committed,
1 x crime reported to police,
1 x crime investigated,
1 x crime reported to CPS,
1 x crime prosecuted,
1 x crime convicted,
1 x crime fine paid,
1 x crime case closed?

I've no idea if this is actually the case but in these days of spin and targets it would seem like a massive oversight if it wasn't.

God, hope i haven't given the Bliarites another idea

I don't believe it will be as AFAIK, speeding offences are not classified as criminal.

I haven't got a clue Bruce I am not a great statistician. However, as lex states, speeding is not a 'criminal' 'recordable' offence.

driving offences are not recorded as part of crime stats. In Hampshire the scrotes who engage in real crime have a 78% chance of getting away with it, sad but true. Not a pop at the Bib, who have been very good when my son suffered an unprovoked assualt recently.
