Hi guys,

Been looking for some gym equipment at home, the best place I've seen so far for stuff like that is (Don't laugh) Argos! Is the quality any good? They have absolutely tonnes of stuff smile

Cheers.

Our local Aldi had a pretty reasonable looking weights bench package when I was in the other week. Might be worth a look to see if they have any left if you are after some free weights.

I have a mate who bought a full size tread mill/running machine from John Lewis - used it ONCE and now sits in the garage. Exercise bike used for a couple of weeks too and now redundant. I'm sure he'd sell it if only someone would come and pick it up!

Sorry, I should've made it clear, I'm looking for things such as kettlebells, medicine balls, ankle weights, dumbbells, etc, all these things argos seem to do a good range of smile

But you will probebly end up with crap sand filled plastic weights.

I reccomend www.powerhouse-fitness.co.uk very good prices and delivery.

Customer service is also helpfull.

They do some cast ones as well though, which seem pretty decent, they're for the missus so she's not looking at massive weights or anything, just a few dumbells smile

Go down the local dump, the place will be full of barely used equipment.

You can have my weights bench if you like mate, I won't be taking it when I leave (circa 2 weeks). Doesn't look brilliant, but does the job.

If you don't want it, leave it in the room smile

That + squatting rack = win.

lol you can't go wrong with weights. You should take the caveman approach. Grab yourself an old tractor tyre and a sledgehammer and give it a good old bashing. Use a metal pole for pull ups. Instead of buying weights I'm sure you have some heavy stuff in the garage you could use or some big rocks (like WSM!), go running in the street etc. I honestly wouldn't spend much on home equipment - esp not to start off with as chances are you'll not be using it in 6 months time!!! Waste of money.

Edit: Just saw it was for ur missus! Baked bean tins will be good enough! biggrin

Doh, didn't see it was for Kat.

Kettlebells, for what they are, can be very very expensive when you move up the weights. Some biiiig people speak highly of them though.

I have some Argos Metal Free Weights that I have had for about 8years and still going strong. They are supposed to be only rated to a certain weight but we have picked up twice the weight on them and they still are fine.

Go for it... just don't bother with the plastic sand ones.

Though... for the ladiez, they are neatly stacked and pink and 'smooth' so they might go down better than big ol' black metal ones! laugh

Aye, got her the cast iron ones, she's used to getting better quality stuff than decent looking rubbish :>
