I'm a .NET dev looking for a .NET position in London. Am I asking for too much? I've seen plenty of jobs on jobserve, totaljobs etc, advertised by agencies but whenever I apply I get no feedback. On the other hand, when I send my CV to a company, I can often get an interview or meeting for a position which is the best I can get (e.g. I have just less than 2 years "experience" but I can get an interview for such a position).

I'm starting to think all these jobs are made up. Because of what I describe above, I don't believe my CV is a problem.

Of course, if there is anyone here hiring .NET devs in London or Berkshire, I'd be happy to get in touch. smile

Thanks

I'm having the same problem with 2nd/3rd line support roles (although I have 6 years experience).. lots of jobs applied for, lots of chasing agencies, still no interviews after nearly 3 weeks of looking.

It's pretty grim all round it seems.

Pick up the phone perhaps? You can't help but get some form of feedback then.

I do. All I hear is that the position has been put on hold or no feedback/decision from the recruiting company.

It's a very bad time of year to be looking. I work in a investment bank in London, and we're still finalising next year's budgets. Until that's done, it's pretty much impossible to hire, so Jan and Feb are always very quiet. Also, with the current redundancy rounds going on, even those who do plan to hire are keeping quiet for the moment.

I expect things will pick up in March - I'll be hiring one or two contractors in March, so all hope isn't lost!

I'd advise getting in touch with a few agencies directly (as opposed to apply for positions with agencies directly) - there are definitely some roles out there (I know BarCap are recruiting in equity derivatives, and I've seen a few contract roles at other investment banks going around).
