The OH and I both received a letter this week from "Who's Who Publications" saying that they want to include our names in a directory of Britains youngest directors. To qualify you need to be under the age of 30 on 1st Jan 2009 which we both are.
We are both listed as directors at Companies House for my wife's business and I'm guessing thats where they got our details.
The letter mentions that there is no cost to us in any way and we don't have to purchase anything from them. They go on to say entry to the book cannot be paid for and is by selection only.
We would be one of 20,000 directors in the book out of 45,000 in the UK under 30 and fewer than 30,600 have a net worth of above £5,000.
You need to log on to their website to review the details they intend to publish and it is possible to opt out if disired.
Just wondered if anyone else had received one of these letters and whether you intended doing anything about it.
I have googled Who's Who Publications and a company called WestWon Ltd which appears at the bottom of the letter but couldn't really shed any light on it.
I can't really see how they could recoup the costs of publishing this book as who would really want to know details of 20,000 company directors under 30.

I got one too. I looked into it and it isn't the Who's Who you think it is.
Basicly they produce a book. They hope you buy either the book IIR £60, or a certificate IIR £11.
They hope enough people take up one of the two to pay their publishers and their wages.
The company is for sale currently and is classed as a vanity publishers.
I think that sums it up.
I basicly is one big phone / address book of ABC1 type people.
I wouldn't / didn't part with any money.

Well off the bat I would hope there are more than 30,000 with a net worth of 5K 
These people are trying to compile lists, even Bradstreet which is a recognised outfit in the States call to try to update their lists and company stats.
I just tell 'em "not interested" 'cos it will lead to sales calls.
However if you are a company that needs web exposure......
If they call back ask them their capitalisation, names of directors etc
