Hi all, currently thinking of doing the above (future arrival is also playing a big part). Obviously completely different cars and Ive never really been into Mercs but something about the C63 has really got under my skin.
Ive seen a few people post on the C63 but wondering what:
1, serving costs are like
2, tyre longevity,
3, mpg
and general day to day living is like with it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Hallo there,

day to day is not the problem, servicing is not either, tyres could be, BUT
THE QUALITY of your dealer incl. their mecanics IS,it is a great car, i would have bought it, but my garage exit is full of ice-snow, try it and then decide,
not cheap, but reliable....as I mentioned: it depends on your dealer,I have been very lucky for six years with AMG, but I changed appts.,and the way out
needs a 4WD :-(..........and listen to the sound ;-)

Good Luck

1. Same as a Boxster give or take.
2. Ha ha ha ha ha ah aha ha ah ah!! I went to Brooklands and ruined a set in four hours.
3. On a run, 25. Pushing it, 6.

Do it. Awesome cars. Merc dealers taking the p155 with prices though. Thought about a twenty grand C55?

Soovy,
thought I had seen you on the Porsche section before?? Have you got experience of Porkers and AMG? Would be interested on a comparison.
Also, has anyone got exact figures on service cost for the C63? Cheers

Yeah, mate has a C32 and I have driven all the 63AMGs at Brooklands.

Awesome, but don't expect double digit MPG!!!

I have owned both, a new Boxster S back in 2000 and currently a C63 AMG Estate, very different cars and difficult to compare, both obviously fantastic! Unfortunately, I hit a deer in my Boxster S with just 600 miles on the clock, £6K damage, I had it repaired at an "Official Porsche Bodyshop" and they bodged it, bad new panel fit and paint runs so I sold it after just 1 year but really enjoyed the 3K miles I did in it.
The C63 is currently my everyday car, now done nearly 9K miles, it's a truly brilliant car to live with, very quick, very smooth, very discret (de-badged!) and very well equipped.
1. I have not had it serviced yet so can't answer that, except to say it's predecessor, a C55 AMG Estate, was no more expensive to service than a normal Mercedes
2. Tyres, big problem! My rears lasted just 5.5K miles, the rears on my C55 lasted at least 12K miles. I took the matter up with my dealer, it turns out the C63 tyres were developed specially for the car and are a very soft compound designed to keep it on the road, they are not designed for mileage which is a problem for me. Mercedes UK replaced my rears foc as a gesture of goodwill, and said a hard compound tyre is currently being developed, hopefully sooner rather than later as in another 2K miles I will need to replace the rears again, and probably the fronts!
3. MPG, as already said that depends on how you drive it, steady 80mph on a motorway you will see probably nearly 30mpg, around town 18mpg, having "fun" as low as 10mpg with ease. My average is 18.8mpg over 8.5K miles according to the trip computer.
Hope that helps, just one more thing, my 51K mile C55 AMG Estate is still for sale at my local MB dealer, now priced at £21,990 which is a bargin, they paid me substantially more than that in p/x last June!
Regards, Rob

I have a amg estate and if the C class is any thing like my e class dont underestimate the cost of tyres. I have done 20k miles in mine in 10 months . It had new tyres on when I got and so far I`ve put 2 pairs on the rear and one pair on the front and my rears are at 50 % wear.
Thats 10 new tyres or one ever 2,000 miles.

My local tyre center chaps now all know me by my first name.Dont get me started on brakes.....

edit to add, my e55 hasve avaraged 19.8 mpg over 10,000 miles
