Neighbour wants to piggy back my internet

A girl across the street, who I have never spoken to in the year that she has lived in the street has asked if she can piggy back my Broadband for £10 a month.

Of course, I knocked her back, why would I do that for someone I don't even know. Surely, it's illegal or at the very least against the terms of my agreement with my provider.

Oh and yes, before any of you ask, I would, even though she's ginger and about 15 years or so younger than.

I moved into a rented house. Use of the broadband was part of the deal. So started up the pc. Found a network (just the one) and connected. Jobs a goodun. Until the landlord asked me if I wanted the WEP key and the name of the network as he'd hidden it.... Still it was useful to have a back up option when ours went awol for a few days...

I've just checked, there are two unsecure connections available in range of my house. I can't believe people don't have passwords on their account in this day and age.

Split the cost with her, on the agreement that she doesn't download too much.

Or of course, you could just sit back and let anyone who has the nous hack in anyway.

Is there a way to inform folks that there internet is open? I live in apartments and there are shedloads of them, (rather than ask everyone what their SSID is)

Mine is, and I leave it like that so that others can use it.
