I crossed the equator for the first time at about 6am on Christmas Day 2005 - I was over the Pacific on a 747 bound for Auckland. However the in-flight map system wasn't on and the Captain didn't announce anything, so it was a bit of an anticlimax!

I've heard a few horror stories. I hope Neptune goes easy on you, don't piss off the bears or you'll find your dunking might be a lot longer than necessary Good times, i'll be doing the same later this year.

My watch started running backwards, and the plane had to do a 180 flip, which was quite inpressive

Cheers for that... and it looks as if there is a good chance we will crossing both the Equator and the prime meridian at the same time.. not sure if that will be a good thing or not reading wiki
