I did 280ft from a crane over a field in CA, not that landing on water would be very nice from that height!
I would have gladly gone higher, the same could not be said for the crane
There is video of it but it is in US format, and i have no way of playing it.

Missed out on Bloukrans, but I've done the Goldeneye (216m), Spider Bridge x4 (192m), Nevis Highwire (134m) and a few 60m or so jumps in France. The Spider Bridge site also has a mental giant (and I do mean GIANT) gorge swing. The jump is awesome as well, as they use very long cords, so you actually fall further than a fair few of the higher jumps.
Not me, but here are some links :-

440 ft (134m) - Nevis Highwire in Queenstown, New Zealand, will see if I can dig out some pictures, great buzz, just wished it could have lasted longer - the 220m could be just whats required!
I did that one too ..... was awsome , particularly as it was from a gondola suspended in the middle of a gorge ....... wow !!

For the H&S people out there, I'd like to point out that this hobby isn't entirely without risks of course.

In another sad turn of events in Berner Oberland, a 22-year old American tourist sprang to his death in Stechelberg, Mount Schilthorn BE due to the wrong bungee cord being used for his jump. The man was under the supervision of Adventure World, an extreme sports provider based in the Berner Oberland. The Adventure World employee responsible for the preparation of the equipment mistook the 180 meter bungee for the 100 meter jump the accident victim was to make.

Yup, did that one. The only jump I've done - figured if I was going to do one, I might as well do the highest (but not longest I think?). Talked myself into on the basis that above more than a few feet, if it goes wrong you're just as dead now matter how far up you start from.220 meters
I understand (or was bullsh**ted into believing) that a long jump is slightly kinder on the body because you sort of dooooooooooooooing rather than <ping>.

Also worth noting in the article the canyoning tragedy : I had been in the alps a couple of weeks earlier canyoning and climbing - I could not believe that an organised group would go canyoning only a few hours after a huge rainstorm - and prior to an ( almost obvious ) ensuing deluge down the rivers.http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_hb6461/is_/a...

If it was 100% safe it wouldnt scare you. If it didnt scare you, you wouldnt do it, surely?
If it ever stops scaring me, I wont bother with it.

This was en route while driving from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth. The day that we crossed the bridge was the worst weather of the holiday. The bungee jumping was closed for the day.All the adrenalin junkies.

We (my brother and I) had planned to do it. Knowing that it was the worlds highest, we thought that we would do our first jump right

Because of the weather we had to pass it up and carry on travelling. Fook knows if I'd have been able to jump, I guess you can only tell when on the edge?

king stupid - canyoning itself is a "calculated risk" , but doing so just prior to an inevitable flash flood is a a fatality waiting to happen. My point is that any sane and experienced person would have waited till much later / another day - I believe the organising company did not have the appropriate experience and/or ability to assess danger from recent weather phenomenon- as a consequence many people diedGassing Station | The Pie & Piston Archive | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
