Guaranteeing a win on the lottery

Iv been pondering.
If you purchased all the possible combinations of the national lottery to guarantee that you would win with all 6 numbers. I believe it would cost you about 13,8m. Taking into account all the tenners from 3 numbers etc all the way up to the big 6. On a average week how much would you be + or - by?
or am i being a bit simple this afternoon?
Ps. this has come about because a few Italian colleagues are bunging 70€ a head on this weekends draw claiming that they have a system.

If you had to aplit the jackpot, you would lose a lot of moneies.
yes you could spend just less than 14million and cover all the numbers. You would then have added £14m into the prize fund too (less the percentage that goes to charity and costs) though I would assume unless it was a huge roll over that the fund would be shared with you not getting enough to cover your costs. This is probably why they only roll over so many times so that this option does not become viable.
In theory very possible to stitch up a huge profit on multiple roll overs once you account for all the small prizes totted up. The theory falls apart when you realise there is no way to limit the number of other big prize winners and the weighty big prizes would shrink leaving you out of pocket by a long way.

Your Italian friend has far longer odds of wining, 78 million to one I think, so would need to cover a whole lot more numbers....If you purchased all the possible combinations of the national lottery to guarantee that you would win with all 6 numbers. Even if the UK Lotto rolled over to around £30 million quid, it would still be an unacceptable risk covering all the numbers - it only takes a pattern or few 'lucky' numbers to come out in the draw to see the main prize plummet. Remember a few years ago when 80 people won the jackpot? They got LESS money than the few people that had 5+bonus ball. All caused by the numbers creating a pattern on the ticket that you use to select the numebers.
I have often dreamt of this ..........
I would "risk " an entry that didnt consider combinations of more than 3 consecutive numbers. to limit the stake , and reduce the time required to fill out the coupons and stand in the queue placing them .

No. You would create loads of 5 + bonus combinations therefore driving the 5 + bonus prize fund (which is limited) down to virtually nothing. Equally, the prize funds for 5 numbers and 4 numbers would be decimated.
The only guaanteed payout is the tenner for 3 numbers. You'd have tens of thousands of those combinations too, thus driving the overall prize fund (and the estimated Jackpot) down to virtually worthless numbers too.....
You can only win a percentage of the money paid in from ticket sales. You cannot win more than that. So if they sell 70 million tickets (including your 14 million pouds worth) they can only give away about 25% of that in prize money, no matter how many winners. So the prize fund would be around £18 million, and you'd have to share that with all the other winners.
