Good reliable tyre fitter for big low profile tyres!
Discussion
I live down Garforth way near Leeds, so anywhere spanning out from there would be nice.
Just that I now have rubber band tyres (255/35 R18), and RFT tyres, so someone who will do a good job at ~£15 per corner would be nice. My walk round tyre machine which was fine up to 16" won't really work anymore
Has anyone used/know of Tockwith tyres? Nice roads to get there and only 20 mins up the road. They are rated well on the tyre website provider fitters list...
Thanks for any help/recommendations!

Try a place called the pit stop just outside Huddersfield, not sure if he can fit 20's but the fella that runs it is a pretty good guy - i know a few people on here use him and i have had two sets of tyres tyresealed by him
I know he said 'spanning' out from Garforth.............but 32 Miles!

When did you move to Garforth Dave? I'll keep my eye open for you!
I've just had some fitted at 'All tyres fitted' In Sherburn, no idea what there capabilities are but they were top guys and took great care of my wheels.
Theres also the Wheel specialist down the back of Tescos, they do refurbs but have tyre fitting capabilities, wortt a ring or call in perhaps.

Ah, Sherburn sounds good. I've heard of a good fitter there so it might be the same one.I've just had some fitted at 'All tyres fitted' In Sherburn, no idea what there capabilities are but they were top guys and took great care of my wheels.

I might give them a bell and see if they are handy with RFT's and such like

Not quite Garforth, but pretty close. Might have to convoy over to the Pub meet one time as summer comes closer and the roof can be left down

Cheers

Have used North Eastern Tyres on Clifton Moor in York:

Very professional and fitted 285/30/18 on my rims with no problem ... rims have a yellow outer banding and very easy to damage, fair play to them.

I've always used RB Tyres down hunslet road, behind Motosave (useless feckers).

They've never broken anything and the chap always gives the best price, for me so far anyway.
Worth a phone call to see if they can do your rubber bands justice.

They look pretty good. Open Sundays too, so I will have to give them a bell tomorrow and get a quote.http://www.nete.co.uk/depot.php?location=6

Just need to decide which ones to get

Starting to get used to the sharpness and ride of the stock Bridgestone RFT's... and they are handy if you get flats, AND the rears still have a fair bit of meat left. Downside is when they finally go, with new front Bridgestone RFT's I'll have to get new rear ones £££

Any recommendations StuB? I know you have run F1 GSD3's, but I can't seem to get them in 255/35 R18... Goodyear Asymmetrics look similar though on price/capability, and the Falken FK452's are meant to be ok too... (bit cheaper)
Dave
I believe that the asymmetrics are supposed to offer the same performance as the old GSD3's, as they are actually a replacement, jsut being phased in slowly. Certainly cant get 15" GSD3's anymore(bet you miss the price of those!).
The new ones just arent as pretty!

The price up at Clifton Moor tyre place are not bad, but they didn't offer Falkens. Also still about £30 cheaper a set to buy my own and take them there for fitting at £20 a corner. The new ones just arent as pretty!
Think I'll get FK452 from Camskill then take them over for fitting... only £401 all in then

£800 for a full set of Bridgestone RFT's

Yep, I'm missing the £35 a corner F1's DIY fitted

The silly expensive balancing of those solid centre Pug wheels won't be missed though!

I'm not sure that Ford of Oulton will charge a reasonable price for a Customers Own Product fitting of tyres...
I'll ring the Sherburn place and Tockwith place in the week and see what they charge too... camskill seems to be the way to go for buying tyres, so it's just finding a trusted fitter (who don't charge a premium like Ford might, and who I can stand and watch)

I eneded up using Motorsport Wheels, seemed like good guys.
Just bought an automatic tyre machine with my brother now though, a fairly old but good Corghi one, no assist arm but when we do the 18's there will be two of us anyway and no rush it'll be good enough.
Should save us money in the long run!
