I'm now on my 3rd battery in 6 years and this one now seems to be dying. The first two would never hold a charge again once the battery had drained after not being used for a few weeks. There is a tracker fitted which I guess adds to the power consumption when switched off.

Last time I invested in an Accumate conditioner charger which is always plugged in when parked up. I've just tried to start up and although dash lights up all OK, there's not enough power to turn the engine over - dash lights just go dim and lots of relays start clicking away. This is odd as the Accumate light was showing green indicating fully charged and happy!

Before I buy another new battery, can anyone recommend a better type or make that would last longer than 18 months - 2 years and not be so susceptable to discharge and recharge.

The Optima Red top and Yellow top batteries claim they're much better. Anyone got experience?

Thx.... Moto

There was a thread on here about batteries only last week. I recommended the Halfords ones!

I had a similar problem to you, and bought a Varta Blue Dynamic (size E24). Probably too early to tell yet, though the difference in cranking speed (from anything the previous battery did) was noticeable; much faster.

Another vote for the Varta, I have just fitted one, went straight into the box, no modifications needed to the battery, which was handy.

Crank speed is great.

Model I used is the Varta type 096R dynamic.

Cheers
