Up High Or Down Low?
Discussion
Need some help guys and gals.
What is the current thinking on engine height? I'm just about to make my engine mounts for my Volvo doorslammer (street/strip) and have about a 2" variation in possible engine heights. Placing it as low as possible reduces transmission tunnel surgery, but I'm not too worried about that- have welder, will fabricate!
For reference, the car will weigh about 2500lbs, the engine about 500lbs of that (including manifolds, turbo, etc) and the front of the crank pulley is roughly in line with the leading edge of the front wheels.
I've currently got it mounted as high as possible to allow for future lowering and notching of the crossmember, but I'm always open to advice from those who know better. I appreciate it won't make a world of difference, but as with anything, all the details add up.
