I've just gotten round to changing the starter on the mini and getting her running again after a four month lay-up.

The battery is fully charged and it has new HT leads.

When stood with the engine running, the rev counter is a bit erratic, despite the revs being constant.

If you rev the car, sometimes the revs stay high for longer than you would expect when you release the throttle.

When driving, the engine drops out, then cuts back in again.

I've checked the obvious stuff, like leads to the coil, etc. Anyone got any ideas please?

Although would that explain rev counter behaviour?
