Considering buying a 156 2.0 selespeed veloce...
Discussion
I have an 2001 2.0. Lovely car - very nice to drive and well balanced with the lighter 4 pot. Only thing I would bear in mind is that the sillyspeeds have a bit of a reputation for needing lots of expensive repairs. Mines a manual so I can't comment from personal experience, but I believe Alfa_75_Steve has one.

p.s. Welcome!
I had a 1999 156 2.4 JTD and 2005 156 2.0 JTS and they were fantastic cars.
Super quick steering (you won't find a BMW/Merc that steers so well), very agile with tons of kit. Brings a smile to your face everytime you drive it.
I would personally avoid the Selespeed for reliability reasons, but then I also know a taxi driver in Bristol who runs one and has had minimal problems with it.

Thanks for the replies,
I have decided to go for a 1.8 or 2.0 (not selespeed)
What are the JTS versions?
The JTS has a TS block with a new head design, still has variable valve timing and same cambelt arrangement. I have decided to go for a 1.8 or 2.0 (not selespeed)
What are the JTS versions?
The early 2002/2003 JTS blocks were never quite right though, later ones much better.

Hi,
Yesterday I bought a 2002 2.0 Lusso, only 64k on the clock, very well looked after, and haggled him down to £2k.
I love it, spent the evening driving it!
Thanks for the advice.
PS Anyone know the best way to replace the battery in the spare Key?

If I remember correctly there is a little grove in the bottom/side of the key, stick a small coin in there and flick it open. Replace battery. Close case
