Hi guys, have enjoyed reading all of the posts on here related to E36 M3's they have been helpful to me in my search for my own M3 which I picked up last Saturday. Previously I had a 328i Sport.

Here is one pic of my new m3;

Lots more in the readers ride section!

Mainly I have 3 questions;

1. My car is currently on Kuhmo tyres all round. I know these are a 'budget' type choice so what should I be replacing them with once they are worn? I only do road driving, no track days, and would be after optimum grip.

2. My car was last serviced 4,000 miles ago but I want to get the oil and filter changed anyway, is the best oil 10w/40? Any particular brand?

3. Is replacing a cracked fog light lense easy enough? Any one who has done this and could provide some pointers?

Thanks guys, i'll keep you posted on how the ownership progresses. Needless to say I am enjoying it massively at the moment!

1. Best grip comes from Toyo T1-Rs in my opinion, but the downside is that they don't last all that long. Michelin PS2s and Goodyear F1s are the usual choice.

2. Lots of people don't use 10w40 in them any more - 10w60 seems to be the way to go. Castrol 10w60 in mine, at the recommendation of Bexley Motor Works.

3. Simple enough to do I think, but can't remember the exact procedure off the top of my head, sorry!

I run Kumhos on mine - great road tyres despite the image. Use them hard in both wet and dry and never had any issues with grip other than the 'desirable' oversteer on demand.

Looks very nice sir and liking the colour wink

As for the driving lamp this is an easy job. Just take off the wheel arch liner of the said side and you'll see the rear of the driving lamp. This is located in a clip retainer type application, so just swing open the large arm and the lamp will just pop out towards the front of the car.

Easy peasy !

Or just stick a screwdriver in the side of the lamp and prize it out. The lamp is on a hinge within its bracket and it opens like a door. Once open, merely pop it out, undo the wiring, attach new one and close. You don't need to do anything with the arch liner.

I had Kuhmos on mine previously and was surprised how good they were in all weather conditions!

I use 0-40 Mobil 1, that and the silkoline (sp) 5-40w is the most recommended on e36coupe forum..remember to change the VANOS oil filter when u change the oil, couple of pounds from the stealers.
