How do you find out if there is a common fault with a car/Brand ?
With reference to a warning light. http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
3 months after the manufactors warranty runs out, the part goes Kapput, over a £1000 to replace on what is supposed to be a decent Brand of car.
After speaking to different dealers and independents there is suggestion it is a common problem on Tourans and Golfs (Mk 5 i think) with the ABS brake sensor unit.
At one stage there are 600 of these units in stock, another enquiry a couple of months later reveals 155 in stock.
Why would a manufacturer keep such a large supply of expensive parts in stock if it is not a common fault on newish cars ?
Is there any way of finding out, my local dealer is quite evasive about the question, so i have had the work done at an independent as i have no faith in them.
Or is it just an expensive piece of bad luck ?
