Well its been 3 months coming but another E34 has landed.... quite rare this one...

March 1996 525Tds Touring Manual, Oxford Green Metallic with Silver Grey Leather, Climate Air Con, Factory Optioned Sports Suspension & finally a detachable Tow Pack (unused!) 1 Owner from new, 97k on the clock with Full Main Dealer Service History...nicknamed by Derin as the 'SAS E34' due to it living Hereford and being supplied by Park Lane BMW (who do Military & Diplomatic Sales)

Also economy is looking very promising, as based on what I'd read I wasn't expecting amazing fuel consumption, but its definately turning in high 30's, probably helped by the manual gearbox.

I'm just a mere amateur to the one they call Derin100 hehe

This one was another 'right place at the right time' car .... reakon Old Colonel would ask £3500 for this one! LOL ...not for sale though, but I do have a rather nice 520i SE Saloon that will be shortly biggrin

Should do better than high 30's I reckon, I've been driving the saloon version of one of these for a while now, and manage 50mpg on a long journey.

Is your tow bar cover painted or just black? My old E34 had an unused detachable tow bar too, but the black cover was a bit ugly against the special order Barbados Green paint.

The Towbar cover is colour coded in Oxford green, was yours factory fitted (Mine is listed on original build spec) or dealer?

families 3rd one here!

95 M 518i SE Touring between 99-07
94 M 520i SE Saloon between 06-09 (to be sold)
and now
96 N 525tds SE Touring

So quite well versed in their couple of minor problems ie, Rear bushes, Water pumps, metric tyres and knocking wipers... but thats about it

The latest one is so well planted I suspect largely to the factory sports suspension ... very worth while it would seem

Lovely cloud9

- and Oxford Green is a great colour on E34s: but of course I am entirely biased...

Mine was factory, listed on the build spec. I guess the cover had been lost and replaced at some point, then.

Looks great, and it's gone to someone who'll keep it in the manner that it deserves too.

Oxford Green is growing on me now its polished up ...wouldn't have been my first choice but you cant be too fussy on colour !

Touring just back from very minor paintwork, plate transfer will be complete Wednesday, then ready for daily use.

The weather has given me the weekend off, as now I need to prepare 'another E34'....this time for sale! .... really don't know how Derin fits it all in, guess a nice big warm garage must help!

Anyone know of any issues if I use 8J 16" ET23 Style 5 Wheels (with 225/55 tyres) bearing in mind its got Self Leveling Sports Suspension fitted?

Trouble is...I'm not fitting it all in!laugh (and the garage isn't warm!)

My garage is currently so full of 'stuff' (old parts from previous projects, tools, wheels, tyres, paints, polishes etc etc) that at the moment there's only room for one car. This space is currently occupied by the E34 540i that I've just completed.

My 840Ci Sport has just returned from the paintshop having had a scratch sorted out (incurred in said garage mad).

I have three cars currently away at the paintshop (Thank God!) but all with impending return:

1)1989 E32 735i (49K miles) - coming up for sale very soon.
2)1997 E38 750iL (58K miles) - being prepared for a friend and coming up for sale very soon.
3)1969 Mercedes 280SL Pagoda - approaching completion of a major restoration:

http://www.bmwclassics.co.uk/gallery/index.php?spg...

(yes, I know that's not how you spell "bare metal"....paperbag)

God knows what I'm gonna do when they all land back on my door-step! yikes

To that I have to add:

1)1995 W129 Mercedes 280SL which is a Cat D lightly damaged car which is my next 'project':

http://www.bmwclassics.co.uk:80/gallery/index.php?...

2)My own daily driver 2000 E39 540i Touring - blo*dy thing just cost me a whole heap in minor repairs. Pity the bill wasn't minor! And the car still needs a new radiator and paintwork. Feel like pushing the blo*dy thing in the canal!

3)My wife's 1998 E39 528i Touring.

Hmmmm....I think I best get up off my ass and be a bit ruthless in the garage this morning, have a clear-up and take a trip to the local dump!

I could even bowl in my E34 540i as the "Star Car of the Month" (P.O.A) and we'd really be out shining the Old Colonel...laugh

One that did make me laugh....

The 316i they have, good history, very low miles etc but at £3k+ (which if its was perfect wouldnt be such a big deal) sort the dents out for crying out loud .... noticed this one a couple of cars they have had recently,

on another car

and another

Ooh, I like the idea of a nice E34 540i smile

Totted up how much my 2000 E39 540i Touring has cost since I bought it - over £4,800 in bills from my specialist alone in less than 2 years. Eek! Maybe I should have been a bit more tolerant of the worn bushes. Still, I can't now sell it until I have had my money's worth wink

That's how I feel now. On the one hand one feels like a change yet on the other hand one feels like this would be wasteful having spent so much recently. I've only had mine a year and I'm dead on course to have spent about the same as you Simon if we extrapolate to two years.frown

I have a family holiday booked for the summer to the Nice area of France and then to the Pyrenees. If I can stretch it out for that and may be hang on until this time next year and then just 'flog/trade' it for whatever it makes that'll have to do.
