E39 steering rack

If its for the 540 in your profile, then you don't have a rack. You have a steering box.

All V8 e39's have this unfortunatly.

Not sure about uprated boxes tbh.

There's a chap on the BMW5.co.uk forum who put an M5 steering box in his 540i. As I understand it, the M5s all have servotronic steering so if you don't have servotronic already to plug it into, the default setting is pretty heavy. It is quicker, of course.
