I bought an Audi a few years back which the garage steam cleaned. It took weeks for the ABS to start working again, since Audi's are better screwed together than TVR's I would say probably best avoided.

Cant remember where it says it, but I am sure I have read somewhere that you are not supposed to steam clean the engine bay....

I use the spray on 'Gunk' degreaser which foams up nicely. Leave it for 10 mins or so and wipe off with some warm water. Repeat as necessary. Just watch out for anything electrical, but you should be fine doing it this way.

Think you could possibly steam clean the bottom of the engine if you maybe covered a few electrical connections starter motor etc. As for the top wouldn't recommend unless VERY careful and covered all electrical connections etc.

Better to do with the Gunk as someone has said.

I fou ARE going to go with the 'Gunk', it is best used on a pretty hot engine apparently. So when you come to rinse the stuff off, use HOT water. Otherwise you will start splitting seals etc.And do as said above about electrics.

If you really want a nice clean engine on your pride and joy, take it off the road in the winter and do a winter clean up project on it. I have done it on a 350i and it came up very nice.Took a while though. E-mail me if you want help ok

Most garages or motor accessory shops do it. It's in a big red aerosol can.

Don't, whatever you do Steam clean a TVR engine. It says on the engine bay of all the latest TVR's not to do it and that applies to all of them. A friend of mine steam cleaned his "S" just before "Back Home" one year and completely shagged it up for months.

Autoglym engine cleaner or Gunk is much better and keep it away from electrics. Better to have a dirty engine bay that works than shagged electrics
