Was an excellent program! Made me pick up my copy of 'The Origin of Species' as Ive never read it all the way through.
Still cant believe that people think that is all started with Adam and Eve! I suppose its so they can feel better about dying!

There are many, many religious people who have no problem with Darwin. The concept of evolution is not an anathema just because one may have religious views.It annoys me that so many think many think the two are mutually exclusive. They are not.
the trouble with religion is that what it is/says/means is so flexible ("ooo no we don't interpret our holy book literally!") you can believe what you like from it. It is a little inconsistent to read some bits of the bible literally ("god exists") and others not so ("the earth was created in seven days").
I watched the program and greatly enjoyed it. I particularly liked the opening sequence where all manner of beautiful life was shown... What many people miss about science, especially some religious people is that science and understanding how stuff works doesn't take the beauty out of things, it only adds to your understanding of their beauty. The world is amazing!

Hello Matey, long time, no see!! Hope you are all well.Great prog, I really enjoyed that and spent a lot of the time going "YES". Some of it seems so obvious now but they must have thought he was the Devil at the time. I think the whole issue of religon is because we cannot cope with the concept of no one being responsible for something happening - we are just to limited by our own arrogance.
I learn more from the BBC and OpenUni Docs, than books, editorials, or dare I say it a good warm bath at 6am on a Sunday with a new scientist, nursing a night of reflection...
Honestly without a presenter of that quality, (and he is old now). Whets the future hold for grasping our attention. I worry as there isn’t one as good, calming, very cool, and intriguing as David Attenborough. IMO

And lots of religious people appreciate these things too. In fact, MANY scientists have quite strong faiths and it is this faith which helps them pursue their careers.Whether others think that they are being hypoctricial or not is down to them, but it is wrong to assume that people who have a religious faith are somehow anti-science.
